2019 was all about revisiting the classic routes we used to use. Our tried-and-true drives that never get old. Our first “old-time” run of the year took us back to the Delta Loop.

This morning loop starts in West Sacramento and winds its way to Rio Vista, the perfect destination for a late breakfast. The route is short, scenic, and full of those relaxed backroad vibes that make for an easygoing start to the day. With only a few cars on this run, the pace was calm, the roads were open, and for once the traffic was lite along the delta.

We began on the west side of the Delta, taking a side road that loops near one of the ferry crossings. We didn’t take the ferry itself — it’s not exactly friendly to low cars — but the detour added a fun twist to the route. From there, we cruised down the main road into Rio Vista, wrapping up the drive the best way possible: with pancakes, good company, and plenty of stories.
