In our third time heading to Area 51, we had a great group of trucks and people in attendance. The day started North of Las Vegas as stayed on the east side of the “place we shall not name”. One of the trucks started to have issues midway through the day but it was quickly resolved. As the trail winded North the first big stop was the famous “black gate”. Here the group looked for the White Raptors known to patrol the borders but they were all hiding.
After a stop at the little alien’n, the group hit the alien research center for some souvenir before making the last push to Tonopah. The last half of the day had a few engine issues but was identified as loose fittings.
Day two was the push back to Las Vegas. The group made their way to the first stop at Gold Point. This is always a great stop for people to check out an old mine town frozen in time. The local owner Walter is always a hoot to hang out with and we enjoy our visits to his town.
The last half of the day pushed through the hills and past the lake bed out of Beaty. With the last part of the trail, there were a few more trucks having issues and the event was called just after the dry lake bed. As always it was a great run and one we enjoy running when the schedule allows.
